The Wonderful World of the Dreams

No 10

Are dreams reality?

Normally, it is defined that word dream means not real, fantasy, belonging to children. The oldest papyrus, the Gilgamesh papyrus of the old Babylonia narrates about a battle and about dreams.

Oneiromancy is the study of the dreams. The same Bible is full of dreams, premonitions, dreams fulfilled.

Dreams Changing History

Dreams in the history are very well documented. Remember in the old Rome Julius Cesar, his wife had a dream and “saw a star falling”. She got alarmed, and consulted a fortune teller. He sacrificed poultry, checked the intestines, and arrived to the conclusion that something really bad could happen to Cesar. She asked several times Cesar not to attend a meeting at the Senate that afternoon. However, Cesar with his arrogance ignored her warning. The result is very well known; the attempt and assassination of Julius Cesar.

Another dream in history happened to the emperor of the Austro-Hungary Empire in 1914. An Abbot, a friend of the imperial family had a dream where he saw the attempt of the Emperor. The Abbot sent a telegram the Emperor received. However, due to the attending of an official parade he could open it. The result is well known. The assassination of the Emperor was the beginning of the first WWI.

Dreams in Ancient Times

We just said about the Gilgamesh in the old Babylon . In the old Egypt the God Serapis was venerated as God of the Medicine. An old papyrus existing in England it is explained that 4000 years ago specialized priests worked with God Serapis. They were consulted in order to unveil dreams. They gave some kind of drinks to the patient, put he or she to sleep under a small pyramid. When he or she waked up and the dream was consulted to the priest for the unveiling.

Serapis passed to Greek with the name of Asclepius. He passed to Rome with the name of Aesculapius. However, in the old Rome they worked with Hypnos, son of Morpheus. This is who takes form; morphology. In this case the Oneiromancers unveiled the dreams.

In the same form in the old Rome we can found Artimidoro of Ephesus unveiling dreams based in the erotism.

Between the Hebrews, the Talmud prophecies we can find “an unveil dream is like an unopened letter”. The narration of Joseph and the 7 cows, and the 7 ears is a very good example.

Dreams Today

Aristotle and his reasoning is a very good example how the culture of the unveiling dreams ended.

However, simple people like the Senoi of Mindanao, a Polynesian ethnic have a very interesting way to deal with dreams. In the morning, they talk to the family about what they dreamed. Up on the dream, head families talk about their dreams. Than in that way the complete town has a good perspective and forecasting.

Sigmund Freud (1856-1939) in 1900 surprised the scientific world with his dream treaty. Study that Mr. Mesmer (Friedrich Anton 1733-1815) and Mr. Charcot (Jean Martin 1825-1893) have been studied previously. The conference was in the University of Austria and was attended by four persons only. However, this study was the base for the modern psychoanalysis. From the Gnostic point of view most of the meaning is not in agreement.

What are the dreams?

The answer is dreams are a way of communication for the same person. The language dreams are symbolic and oneiric.

Communicable to the same person only; such person only can capture the essence of the message. The base of the dreams is the archetypes. Those are the base of the symbols. For example, in the dream is only seen the form of a woman. That is the base of the eternal feminine. Explaining the meaning of this with words is no easy. Explaining the psychological taste of a dream with words is really hard.

Phenomena

Also, there are physic and psychic phenomena in the dreams. Those are very verifiable. The physical remains in bed. The instinctive center works. Who is sleeping is disconnected from the physical world. It is only living inside the subconscious world. So, it is closed the physical world and it is open the psychic world. It has been attested physically from one head ventricle some energy gets out and the same gets back at the time of wake up. The same phenomenon is attested at the time of death. Psychically we enter into a world of different laws and different dimensions. There we can fly, get through walls, we are the actor and attendee at the same time.

Do we always dream?

That is a very often question. Adults say no, however, in the infancy we do it better. The true is we dream always. We are unconscious totally. The matter is we do not remember dreams.

Dreams are happen basically in other dimension. We can call that dimension our psychological country. All of that is according our sleeping consciousness.

Sentences:

Tolstoy “a man is known his morality according his dreams”.
Plato “it is God’s message” “the man is know by his dreams”
Jung “dreams are animic (mental) messages for the person”
Aristotle “a prolongation of psychic activity”
Freud “relief of the psychic”

All those sentences can sound different each other, however, they are not. The reason is because there are different kinds of dreams.

Types of Dreams

Mechanic dreams are the reflex of our center of the human machine: intellectual, emotional, motor, instinctive, and sexual.

Symbolic dreams are based in archetypes. Archetype means “old idea”; for example; sword, serpent, dragon, and so on.

Prophetic dreams are those where the messages is coming from the Divinity.

Creative Science Dreams are those like; Niels Bohr and his atomic model, Thomas Alva Edison and his inventions.

Creative Art Dreams are those like; Alan Poe with “Eureka” inspired in 12 hours of dreams, Goethe wrote after dreams, Mozart wrote too his music after dreams, Beethoven got his inspiration outside of the physic body.

Religious Creative Dreams: it was Daniel and Nacobudonosor in the old Persia . The king Nacobudonosor had a dream, and he asked his fortune tellers to unveil not only the dream but what was the dream itself. If not, he will kill them. The fortune tellers knowing about Daniel and his capacity to unveil dreams asked him for help. Daniel asked, together his friends, some time in order to dream the same dream the king had. Daniel could dream and unveil the king’s dream. Daniel explained Nacobudonosor the dream was an enormous man statue. It had clay feet, iron legs, the rest of the body was bronze, silver, and gold. Soon a small stone coming far away hit the feet falling apart the whole statue. The unveiling; it was going to be a gold age, silver age, bronze, age, and iron age. All of this representing the humanity; and this one will fall and it will be exterminated.

History Dreams: remember Dr Gudden and Louie II of Bavaria . Dr Gudden said several times he dreamed “some one grabbed him from the back not seeing the face”. Later Dr Gudden started to assist Louis, who had mental ill problems. One day both went to paddle and in the middle of the lake Louie grabbed Gudden from the back and jumped into the water. Both died drowned to death.

Interpretation of Dreams. dreamsdictionary

First, it is very important to distinguish the kind of dream. Those are mechanic or not; the mechanic dreams are a reflex of the physic body. Those are the product of the no balance of the physic body. The mechanic problem could be an illness problem.

So, the self knowledge could be possible through dreams. Dreams are the best mirror we can have of ourselves.

Yoga Dreams

One procedure could be to write down dreams we have as soon as we have them. This procedure helps us to remember them easily. At the time we go to bed try to sleep in the lion’s position lying on the right side and invocating Morpheus. In order to remember dreams is very important not to move at the precise moment we wake up. In case we can not remember dreams we need to mantraliza mantram RRRRAAAAOOOOMMMM GGGGAAAAOOOOMMMM. This practice could be 10 or 15 minutes daily. That could be at any time of the day. Soon you could notice more easy is to remember dreams. This mantra will help us clarify our senses.
